A bit of foxing to the boards, near fine in a modestly toned, very good dustwrapper with a couple of faint splash marks. Nicely Inscribed by Sendak in 1966 with a small drawing of a dog.

One of the hardest to find Seuss first editions. Written by Seuss using the pseudonym of LeSieg. 1st edition, 1st printing of number 19 in the Beginner Book series.Hardcover in VG condition with light tip wear and wear at top and bottom of binding. Dust Jacket has wear, chipping along top and bottom edge, a little age discoloration on inner top edge, a few indentations on front from pen or pencil pressure, and a small piece missing on bottom edge. No markings. Pages clean and crisp.

Now, excluding the impossible First Private Printings in Late 1901 & Early 1902 from the realm of possibility for we mere mortals, the First few Original Warne Trade Printings are one of my joys to study - and even more to Find! Most collector's know that the First few Warne Printings (late 1902 - mid 1903) were done with patterned leaf end papers and had 97 pages with all illustrations in Color (Private Printings were B&W). The distinction between the printings was the Board Color. The last of these 4 printings changed "wept" to "shed". NOTE: NONE of These Printings had a COPYRIGHT DATE (on the rear of the Title Page)! Signed by the artist, Arthur Rackham.
First edition, limited issue, being one of 750 copies signed by the artist. A wonderful collection of fairy tales from the Brothers Grimm featuring the spectacular illustrations of Arthur Rackham. This is the subject matter that brought out the best in Rackham. A lavishly illustrated limited edition and a showpiece for any collection!
