No words, just illustrations of hopping bunnies, dancing cats, and jumping dogs. Each book with flap feature showing hidden items like a bone. Namme and date in ink to front endpaper. Contents fine.

Extremely scarce with colored plates! Rebacked, with red spine labels. Foxing scattered, occasionally on the heavy side. Plates generally attractive, even when can see light foxing as in frontis. Majority are clean, or with light soilage in margins. Binding is tight.

This book is in poor condition. The cover binding has separated from the pages and would need to be repaired. There is foxing of varying degrees throughout though interior pages are mostly just tanned. Last 2 pages of index are missing. There are a few loose pages throughout. They scenery-like sheets create a perspective image if arranged one behind the other.
Appreciated by spectators attending from balconies, the view exhibits an extraordinary street circus with various animals: an elephant, bears, savants dogs playing comedies, acrobatic monkeys, etc.; trainers wear sumptuous oriental costumes.

James Street (1903-1954) worked as a journalist before deciding to become a Baptist minister. Unhappy with the job he quit and went back to journalism. He wrote a short story that was published by Cosmopolitan magazine that was later turned into a hit movie (Nothing Sacred) by David Selznick. A Broadway musical (Hazel Flagg) followed, then another short story was turned into a movie (Living It Up) starring Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. He later went on to write books about boys and dogs.
