Small quarto, 197x156mm, red spined boards (gilt titling of spine faded and nearly illegible, hinges rubbed, tips sl.worn but neat and sound); (x)+218(of 220)+(iv);(4)+xii+142 (of 144)+90(recte 98)pgs; The 4 missing leaves supplied in good facsimiles (comprising half TP with explication of frontis on its back + The frontis which is repeated in Part 2 + 2 leaves with text and an emblem on each). The first printed peerage of England. Bound in a modern purple flexible cloth with yapped edges, spine lettering gilt, owner's name stamped in gilt to front cover,renewed endpapers, outer margins of title page and preface are trimmed in old clear tape, pages 17 and 18 small old clear tape repair to inner margin, page 159 has old clear tape mend to inner margin and upper margin, edges darkened.

Vol 2, frontis, [7], 8-370 pp, 1 pl. Printed by William Rees, yellow endpapers, numerous illustrations within text (1 full page), some spots to covers, occasional spot to blanks. (Anderson 337. Lowndes 2802). Title continues: Heraldic Visitations of Wales and Part of the Marches; Between the Years 1586 and 1613, under the Authority of Clarencieux and Norroy, Two Kings at Arms, By Lewys Dwnn, Deputy Herald at Arms; Meyrick, antiquary and historian of arms and armour. His last published work was an edition of Lewis Dwnn's Heraldic Visitation of Wales, for the Society for the Publication of Ancient Welsh Manuscripts (1846).

Nathaniel Crouch was an iconic 17th-century English publisher and author. Crouch published his works under a pseudonym, often Richard or Robert Burton, as is the case with this 1681 treatise, "Historical Remarques and Observations of the Present State of London and Westminster". As the title suggests, this book covers the establishment and building of churches and towers, the present state of palaces and cathedrals, accounts of plagues, wars leading up to 1681, and the political climate in London.
This book contains reports of some of the most important events such as the execution of Charles I, Thomas Venner's insurrection, disappearance of Edward V, and many more!
