Braun & Hogenberg, 1598. Near fine, early color, latin edition (applicable text verso). Very decorative town plan of Toledo, Spain from this edition of the famous city atlas. Cherubim, palace, temple all present as separate images. These plans are well-known to collectors, and this particular item is increasingly uncommon. The full atlas was published in 6 volumes, in various editions, from 1572-1617. It was a collaborative work between many artists, engravers and cartographers (for a nice discussion of the history of this atlas, see Goss's THE MAPMAKERS ART, pp. 260-5). The map image measures 12.75x20 inches..

Collins, Greenville : Chart of Milford Haven, from Great Britain's Coasting Pilot, ca.1760. Copper engraved chart. Map size approx 560mm x 440mm. Wide margins, hand coloured, good impression on heavy paper, showing the Welsh coast at Milford Haven. Compass rose, rhumb lines, scale. Cartouche with cherub, dedicated to Sir Hugh Owen. Light water stain to top margin just touching printed area, otherwise a very good, bright and attractive chart.

Colomb, Jacob Aertsz. De Custe van Engelant tußchen Poortlant en Lezard. Additional title: Les Costes d'Angleter re de Fierleij jusques á Lezard. Ca 1640. Listed in the The New Fierie Sea-Colomne from 1633-1651. Copper engraved, early hand coloured chart. Chart size approx 525mm x 375mm. Orientation NNE top centre cartouche contains scale. Decorative title cartouche to upper right and additional title cartouche below scales. Chart covers land areas from Portland to the Lizard. Among the places indicated on the coast line are Bridport, Torbay, Dartmouth, Plymouth, Fowey and Truro. Decorative compass rose, rhumb lines and sea vessel on sea area, which also includes the Ideston [Eddystone] Rock and the Kasquettes [Casquets] . Side margins tight with small breaks just touching edge of engraved area. One tear in sea area, repaired. London: James Reynolds Hand coloured map of London and environs from Essex down to Surrey laid on cloth backing, not dated but looks around late 1800s possibly a bit earlier. Map size from edge to edge is 30 ½ x 20 Inches in overall clean condition just a few light stains to back which do not come through onto map, on points of a few folds there are small holes of wear but when map is laid out they cannot be seen and all wording is readable, scale is ½ inch to one mile. Folds into a hard cover 7 x 4 ¼ inches, which is worn on edges and on surface, opens onto marbled endpaper and a cutting advertising the maps of James Reynolds, this has been pasted to the inside of front board and is a two page fold out which is torn in the middle but is not original to the map but is a cutting from a newspaper.A pleasing clean copy of an old map SEE IMAGE. Required six runs through the Heidelberg Kors press at the Borowsky Center for Publication Arts. Laid in an illustrated letter fold wrapper. Signed and numbered by Austin and Snyder. Alice Austin: "Nolli, an exploration of textural layers of Rome by Alice Austin and Jon Snyder, was inspired by the Giambattista Nolli map of Rome, 1748. This project is the result of research done as a visiting artist at the American Academy in Rome. The front and back covers show elements from the Nolli map combined with a photo of a litho of the Roman fragments of the city map. [London].: George Philip & Son.. No date. (circa1937).. Very large, handsome coloured linen backed map 167.5 x 114.5cm, folds into cloth boards 29.5 x 24.5cm. Scale 1:3,000,000 or 48 miles to an inch. Marbled front free endpaper creased and torn with some loss. Ribbon ties detached, cloth soiled, corners of corners worn and bumped, cloth along case joints torn in places. Although the case shows wear this striking map is in excellent condition. The map features three inset maps: Shanghai/Nanking District; Peking Tsinan District and Sinkiang. A key gives reference to the symbols of communities used which include animal and vegetable products, mineral products and manufactured products. A scarce map packed with fascinating detail of China at a crucial time in the country's history. .
