Chicago. C.J. Howard. 1927. Collection is contained in original imprinted cardboard C.J. Howard packaging box. 7"x4.75" when closed (horizontal folding card).7"x9.5" when opened. Each card presents a striking Art Deco multicolored lithograph and various coloured borders and decorations printed upon folded heavy card stock. Early in the 1920s Charles Mather, who worked for his family’s Chicago printing house, the Mather Company, took an idea brought to him by one of the firm’s salesmen, Charles Howard Rosenfeld. What Rosenfeld proposed was a series of posters whose focus was to give workers incentive to work better and to work harder. Mather called these prints, “Constructive Organization Posters.” These posters were made to be placed on office and factory walls and were expected to inspire workers to do their best. Hollywood: Universum Film [UFA] / Paramount Pictures, 1927. Original advertising herald for the US release of the 1927 film, a shortened 115-minute version re-cut by American playwright Channing Pollock, who is credited on the herald. Interestingly, the herald credits the film as joint production of Paramount and UFA, just prior to the formation of the larger umbrella production company Parufamet, which included UFA, Paramount, and MGM. 4.5 x 6 inches folded, 8.75 x 6 inches unfolded. Munich: J. F. Schreiber & Deutsche Hochbild-Gesellschaft, c. 1920s. Painted plaster anatomical relief display in wooden frame (240 x 302 mm). Printed paper label to the rear. Housed in the original box with the stamp of the publisher's archive and two handwritten labels - one giving the name of the display and the other reading "F21". Also with the original tissue-covered cotton insert to protect the relief. A few very minor scratches and spots to the frame. There is some wear to the box and the tissue covering for the cotton padding is torn. Excellent condition. Uncommon, early-20th century anatomical relief of the European frog species Rana esculenta (the common European water frog, or green frog). The publisher's archive copy, in excellent condition in the original box. Housed in the original box with the stamp of the publisher's archive and two handwritten labels - one giving the name of the display and the other reading "F22". Also with the original tissue-covered cotton insert to protect the relief. Some minor spots and scuffs to the frame. Slight damage to the paper backing of the frame not affecting the its integrity. Some wear to the box. Excellent condition. Uncommon, early-20th century anatomical relief of the European lizard species Lacerta agilis (the sand lizard, here called the fence lizard). HUNTER THOMPSON FOR SHERIFF - ORIGINAL SILKSCREEN: This item is a 3 color silkscreen printed by artist, Thomas Benton, original designer of Hunter Thompson's election poster from his campaign for sheriff of Aspen in 1970. This item was part of a series released by the artist during the late 90's. Item is boldly signed by Hunter Thompson in gold, and countersigned by Benton in pencil at the bottom of the poster. The poster is in FINE condition. PROVENANCE: The poster has had one owner: Me. I purchased the poster at a book fair in Burbank, CA sometime in the late 90's from Ed Smith Books - ABAA/ILAB member. It has been well preserved & taken care of in a frame (not professional) with acid-free backing.

Due to an acrimonious falling out between Hughes and Hurston, it took six decades for this play about African American life in '20s rural Florida to finally get its world premiere. No binding. Very Good. Fine Art Print Hollywood: Samuel Goldwyn Company, 1984. Vintage original 41 x 27"" (104 x 69 cm.) poster, USA. John Lurie, Eszter Balint, dir: Jim Jarmusch; Goldwyn. Unfolded, with just a couple of minute nicks in the blank left margin, JUST ABOUT FINE. Jim Jarmusch's first feature film, a landmark, surreal comedy laiden with dead- pan humor. There were two different posters for the movie -- this one, with a scene at a frigid Lake Erie, and another from the film's finale in Pensacola. There are numerous later repros of this poster on the market, but they measure 40 x 27"", and are printed only in black, whereas this poster is printed in black and brown.

Steve McQueen, Robert Vaughn, Jacqueline Bisset, Don Gordon, Robert Duvall, dir: Peter Yates; Warner Brothers. Unrestored, with great, nicely matched colors and all minor original issues addressed in conservation. Fine.The classic 1960s action-crime thriller, with an iconic performance by Steve McQueen playing the San Francisco cop who becomes obsessed with finding the underground leader responsible for the deaths of witnesses in his protection. Here is one of the finest and most rare posters for this classic title. This example does not appear to have ever been used. Prior to expert linen backing, it showed only very minor shelf wear and shows just minor shelf wear, such as three minor fold juncture separations, a bit of creasing at the very edges and a few minor spots of soiling in the white background. Finland: Trinty Production, 1950. 1st Edition . No Binding. Fine. An original and extremely rare Finnish A2 one-sheet film poster for the Documentary Film "Savage Africa" a.k.a. "Congolaise" from 1950. Commissioned by the French Government originally to make a record of the native tribes in French Equatorial Africa, it was controversially edited to present as an exhibition of female nudity and gorilla hunting. As such, possibly one of the very first Blaxploitation movies ever. The film was screened for the first time in Finland in November 1950 and there were no further theatrical releases following its initial run. The poster is an offset print made by Kartapalvelu Oy of Finland, dated 1950 and with the artist's (printed) signature at the right about midway. Measures 23.5" x 16" approx. Pinholes to each of the corners, some minor creasing at the edges in places but overall in outstanding condition, as a cinema-used item it has to be Near Mint. A superb example… Read More
