In his article in the July/August 1996 issue of Firsts Arthur B. Edwards notes that "... there is a fully illustrated Osgood octavo edition, published at the end of November, 1873, taken from the British sheets. This is titled Around the World in Eighty Days, and is very scarce. It seems to have had production problems that caused the spine to crack and chip when the book was read; consequently no 1873 copies have been seen in better than good condition (p. 42)." This is a rebound copy of the First Edition of the Martian Chronicles. If you have spent $2000+ for a good First Edition, but you want to actually READ the first edition, then perhaps this copy is for you.It is a library discard from the Washoe County (Reno) Nevada Library.. It was rebound in 1963 by the Houchen Bindery of Omaha Nebraska. This copy still has the library card in it, and a few stamps and mark. The binding is intact, and all pages present and in good shape.Corners bumped, some pages lightly stained, I wish that it was perfect of course, but it isn't.
