A lovely first printing of the first American edition [Marek New York (1980)], signed by author Robert Ludlum directly on the front free end paper. The book is in very good condition with some wear on the board edges and bowing in the boards. The book has no remainder marks, a tight and square binding, sharp corners and with no owner inscriptions or highlighting. The dust jacket is in near fine condition, price-clipped, but with the correct date code (8003). The jacket has minimal shelf wear at the extremities of the spine but no chips or tears. Book itself has a minor water stain (approx. 1/2") along the bottom edge of each front endpaper. Rear pastedown endpaper has a 1" X 1" water stain along the bottom right edge which is covered by the dust jacket flap. There are also a couple of small spots on the rear endpapers. Dust jacket is not price-clipped but shows moderate shelf wear, fading/browning, and what appears to be some mild delamination along the edges. Scarce, True 1st Ed, 1st Printing, Hardcover with Priced Dust Jacket of "The Bourne Identity" by Robert Ludlum. Published by Richard Marek. This has no statement of edition or printing as if required for it to be a true first. This has no writing. No remainder mark. The priced dust jacket is protected in a Demco mylar. It does have a small spot of stain on the first fly page as can be seen in the photos. Also one small spot on the front page block. Square book. Clean pages internally. Solid binding.
