New York: Modern Library, 1941. First Edition. Hardcover. Good/Good. Presentation copy inscribed by Steinbeck to playwright Moss Hart on the half-title page. Good in a Good jacket, unclipped (95 cents), generally rubbed and with multiple creases and tears. Red buckram, stained at the spine and boards, generally soiled. Square, bound with some reading wear and a worn dark top stain, clean internally. This copy bears a great inscription from Steinbeck to another of the 20th century's great authors: "For Moss Hart/This book is touchingly/inscribed--/with pleasure and gratitude/for Lennie knows what./John Steinbeck." Though Steinbeck and Hart never collaborated, Steinbeck co-wrote the stage adaptation of Of Mice and Men with Hart's neighbor and long-time collaborator, George Kaufman.

This graphic novel was created under a National Endowment for the Arts BIG READ Grant 2009. 8th graders from 21 Louisiana parishes created graphic novels based on John Steinbeck's novel "The Grapes of Wrath." The program "From Tragedy to Triumph, The Great Depression and New Deal in North Louisiana" was designed to encourage students to "...honor those who lived through this transformative period and to demonstrate how the landscape of our country was quite literally changed by the recovery efforts, both public and private.

A near fine copy in orange wrappers of booklet. With subscription form. William A. P. White (1911-1968) may be better known by his pseudonym Anthony Boucher.
